Tomonori Ochi

Started practicing ballet at Ochi International Ballet Academy. Apprenticed himself to Valerii Kovtun (Kiev Ballet).

1998Graduated from Kiev State Ballet School and danced in his graduation performance with Alina Cojocaru (a female principal dancer at England’s Royal Ballet).

2000Won the "1st prize" in the 3rd Artek International Ballet Competition

2001Won the "3rd prize (copper medal)" in the senior men’s division of the 9th Moscow International Ballet Competition (No qualifiers for the 1st or 2nd prizes).
Played the principal role in the performance of "Blind Tango", "Solo For Two Chairs" and "Tarantella" as a guest principal dancer in the France tour of the Kiev Classical Ballet.

2002Won the "copper medal" in the classical ballet senior men’s division of the 4th Nagoya International Ballet and Modern Dance Competition.
Played the principal role in "The Sleeping Beauty" (ballet in a prologue and 3 acts) produced by Chubu Branch of Japan Ballet Association as an event sponsored by Nagoya Citizen Art Festival.

2004Won the "3rd prize" in the senior men’s division of the 21st Varna International Ballet Competition.
Played as a soloist in the performance of "Devil’s Tale" (choreographed by Yuri Ng), a dance opera produced by Aichi Arts Center, and "Dance Chronicle" in Aichi Dance Festival.
Played the principal role with Iana Salenko (Berlin State Ballet) in the performance of "La Sonnambla" choreographed by Valerii Kovrun at the invitation of Kiev, Ukraine.

2005Performed in the "Royal Highness Takamado-no-miya Norihito Memorial Opening Special Gala Exhibition" in the opening ceremony of World Ballet and Modern Dance Competition.
Performed in "Diana and Actaeon" in EXPO Dome at EXPO 2005 AICHI JAPAN.
Played the principal role in "Giselle" (full length) cosponsored by the 60th Memorial Art Festival of the Agency for Cultural Affairs.

2006Entered into a contract as a soloist with the New National Theatre Ballet, Tokyo.

2007Played the principal role in the performance of "Apollo" choreographed by George Balanchine at the "Ballet 21st Century Performance" of Ochi International Ballet.

2008Appeared on the stage of "Con Brio" choreographed by Helgi Tomasson at the 50th Anniversary Memorial Performance of Japan Ballet Association.

2009Played the principal role with Maria Kochetkova in "Don Quixote" (full length) held in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of Ochi International Ballet.
Played as a guest dancer in the "Memorial Performance in Commemoration of 65th Birthday of Valerii Kovtun" at the invitation of the Kiev Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.
Played in the performance of "Sengoku Dance Emaki (Warring dance picture scroll)", an event sponsored by Nagoya Citizen Art Festival 2009.
